Gin is a character in the FX limited series, Shōgun, who is portrayed by Yuko Miyamoto. Gin runs the teahouse in Ajiro.
Biography[]
Gin manages the tea house in Ajiro. She negotiates the rates and time of the courtesans who work for her, like Kiku. Gin makes the decision to allow Kiku to spend a night with the Anjin, even when some, like Omi, look down on her for this decision.
Gin has big plans. Gin approaches Lord Toronaga and asks him to consider her idea for a section of teahouses in Edo, but he tells her he can’t help as his future is short. She subtly implies there might be another way to help with his problem.
Later, Gin shows Kiku and the other courtesans where she will build her tea house in Edo. She is very excited.

Gin has ambition and guile. She is very strategic and is a strong person.
